Time for toys and time for cheer, Christmas time is almost here! I know, it seems like Christmas was just yesterday and holiday decorating is upon us. Don't panic, I got you covered with all your Christmas decorating needs! Here at La-Z-Boy, we take our Christmas décor seriously. This time of year is busy for us designers, and luckily we know all the tips and trips to get through the holiday season and wow your guests!
Step 1: Choose a central theme/color scheme
Christmas décor comes in a variety of colors and themes aside from the traditional red and green. For instance, my décor this year is centered around white, gold, green, and champagne. I went for a modern and elegant aesthetic. Here are some beautiful schemes for Christmas this year.
Traditional Red and Green
Modern White, Green, and Gold
Timeless Silver, White and Blue
Eclectic Emerald, Pink, and Blue
Bold Gold, Green and Black
Step 2: Choose a Tree
Christmas trees are a staple in Christmas design, duh! There are a variety of styles to choose from when it comes to a Christmas tree. They come in all shapes, sizes, and colors so you'll have no problem finding your perfect tree.
List of supplies needed for decorating your tree:
ribbon
tinsel
ornaments in a variety of shapes and sizes (creates depth and dimension)
filler accessories (pinecones, feathers, snowflakes, flowers, etc.)
tree topper (star, angel, snowflake, flower)

Step 3: Get Out the Greenery
Hang up the wreath and garland, because it truly brings your Christmas décor to life. Hang your wreaths on your front door and other doors around your home. Customize your wreath to match your tree and accessories.
Garland is a great way to spruce up your holiday décor. Places to add garland to can include:
fireplace mantle
staircase
tv stand
door trim
window trim/seal
dining table (as a runner)
Add lights, pinecones, ornaments or even fake snow to even further accessorize!
Step 4: Light a Candle
Candles are great for setting the holiday mood with warm lighting. They can be a great way to accessorize any room in your home. Place them on your mantle, end tables, dining room centerpieces,, coffee tables, dressers, etc. A good candle really creates a Christmas feel. Place holiday elements and greenery around the candles for a more designer look.
Step 5: Pillows, Throws, and Accessories
You can't forget about pillows, throws, and accessories for the holiday season! It's winter, so that means cold weather, at least where I am from. Always have a blanket and pillows to create a warm and cozy environment; something that makes you want to snuggle up on the couch and drink hot cocoa! Using throws and pillows with Christmas elements on it really brings the space together.
Along with throws and pillows, accessories go a very long way. Break out those snowmen, mini Christmas trees, reindeer, pinecones, and Christmas villages. Holiday accessories make people happy, and nothing is better than a happy, warm, and welcoming home.
